“Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. Isaiah 1:18-20
These verses have always had the power to make me stop. To be still and listen for I am amazed by the invitation. Have you ever stopped to consider what is actually being said here? Almighty God, the creator of Heaven and earth, the moon, sun, stars, planets all of it! The same God who designed, created, and formed me in my mother’s womb, who charted my course and breathed the breath of this wonderful life into my body is essentially saying in this verse:
“Come here daughter. Let’s be reasonable and talk about this for a minute. Your soul has been stained by sin, you’re like a bright red beacon proclaiming, “I’m a sinner, I’m a sinner!” But I can and will wash all of your sins away. With the blood of my beloved Son I will cleanse and heal you, and present you as new, restored, and pure as snow. The only thing I ask that you be willing and obedient. I know at times you will fail, but your willingness is the key. If you are willing you will be blessed with every good thing, and if you refuse then by your own unwillingness you will be destroyed. It’s up to you.”
It just blows my mind every time I think about it! Who am I that God is asking me to come and reason together? That He is willing to discuss with me the pros and cons of obedience?
What is man that You are mindful of him? Or the son of man that You take care of him? Hebrews 2:6 (NKJV)
Be Blessed!
