Day 13 | Children Of The Light
Day 13 | 40 Days with God | Ephesians 5: 6-20
Nothing stays hidden when light shines upon it. The rising of the sun illuminates the earth. The flip of a switch will achieve total transformation of a darkened room. Things that were previously hidden in shadow become visible. In Matthew 5:15, Jesus taught, “In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.”
God is ‘The Father of Lights,’ and every good thing comes down from Him through Christ Jesus. God is the light of faith, the light of hope, the light of love, patience and kindness. We become ‘Children of The Light’ through Jesus.
Christians are not to be led by our flesh. We are led by the Spirit and through the power of the Spirit as revealed in the Word, we are able to bring the carnal (envy, strife, drunkenness, fornication, fear, anger, frustration, worry) under submission.
As lights in this world we are to illuminate it, to fill it with the fruit of the Spirit. We must always be mindful that we are conspicuous and we will be watched. Our words and actions will come under scrutiny. If they are no different than those of non-believers then we are not glorifying the Father.
As a man without reason, so is a Christian without grace. A wicked man is the worst of creatures; a wicked Christian is the worst of men; and a wicked minister is the worst of Christians. ~Matthew Henry~
