A Sabbath Rest
So then, there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath-rest reserved for the [true] people of God. For he who has once entered [God’s] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own. Hebrews 4:9-10 AMP
It’s 10:31 pm and Hurricane Sandy, appropriately nicknamed Frankenstorm, has been beating up the northeastern coast all day now. Here in Philadelphia, the Mayor has declared a State of Emergency. Trees are falling down, thousands are without power, homes and businesses are flooded, nerves are frayed, frazzled and reaching the snapping point.
I’ve spent a lot of time today in a state of heightened awareness, watching news reports and checking my Twitter and Facebook feeds. I am concerned because hundreds of thousands of lives will have been negatively impacted by the time Ms Sandy gets bored and decides to leave us alone.
But I am not…worried. I trust God and I am at peace with this storm and whatever the outcome may be. All is well in my world.
I have entered His Rest.
