Why did He do it? A shack would have sufficed, but He gave us a mansion. Did He have to give the birds a song and the mountains a peak? Was He required to put stripes on the zebra and the hump on the camel? Would we have known the difference had He made the sunsets gray instead of orange? Why do the stars have twinkles and the waves snowy crests? Why dash the cardinal in red and drape the beluga whale in white? Why wrap creation in such splendor? Why go to such trouble to give such gifts? ~ Max Lucado
Every now and then we are fortunate enough to get a little more than we expected. Such is the case with Max Lucado’s latest book. The Lucado Inspirational reader is a compilation of quotes, snippets and anecdotes culled from the best selling author’s previous works. I expected a great book. What I received was an awesome, inspirational, soul-lifting, hardcover book over 400 pages long with a topical index for easy reference.
Some of the 27 topics include: the Bible, comfort, creation, evangelism, faith, heaven, Jesus, peace, purpose, second chances and worship
Description from the book jacket:
Comfort and the Cross, Faith and Forgiveness, Salvation and Spiritual Refreshment.
For more than twenty-five years you’ve trusted Max Lucado to walk with you as you ponder these essential truths. This collection of his very best illustrations, stories, and one-liners guides you through his signature themes and life’s most important matters. Spend a few minutes or a couple of hours at the foot of the cross. Take a moment or an afternoon to search the heart of the Savior. Seize a second for a second chance. Return to these words time and again for a dose of hope and encouragement straight from Max’s heart to yours.
This book is definitely Spiritual refreshment! I gave it 5 stars.
I received this book free from the publisher through the Book Sneeze.com http://booksneeze.combook review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
