Today’s Writing Prompt: What happens when you are reminded of your teen years? Happy? Jealous? Feelings of bitterness or regret?
Perhaps I have such a low tolerance level when it comes to thick headed, numskull, teenage dimwits is because I lived inside of one of the dimmest bulbs on the tree throughout my teen years. The only thing I am able to do is shake my head and keep thanking God for not allowing her to self destruct. I’m in my fifties now and I still marvel at the fact that that she’s still breathing.
There’s no way I could ever look back and miss her. In fact whenever I do look back I intentionally pass her right on by.
I was taught, “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all,” so that’s all I have to say…..
Except…
She sure was pretty! 😉

Sometimes age is terrible, isn’t it? We have bags and wrinkles under our eyes (or I do, anyway). But with age comes wisdom and I wouldn’t trade any of that for the world!!

i could definitely relate to this post. I try to not think about my past as a teenager too much because it makes me sad that I wasn’t stronger or more confident. I made so many stupid decisions not thinking of others or myself and so I am left with a bit of regret. I am so glad to be where I am now and past those silly silly years. lol, thanks for sharing.

I think most of us are in the same boat…we had no idea how cute we really were, we were so caught up in all the other teenage stuff – being insecure, shy, and in my case…gangly! LOL Thanks for sharing!

Ha, ha – great ending to your post:)
In a way, I feel sad – that there’s a person who was once you that you no longer like. And in a way, I’m full of envy – that you are strong enough to create a you that is not her.
There are definitely things about the teenage me that I don’t like (and hopefully I’ve grown and changed these), but in a way, I still feel like that 15 yo girl that I used to be:)

Love it! LOL. I wrote a SOC and lost it. I was so annoyed. It’s a fun write/read isn’t it? And she still is pretty 😉

Glad your past you was at least pretty!! Mine didn’t grow out of awkwardness until college and then didn’t realize it until post-grad.

She was awkward, shy and insecure..had no idea she was cute. 😉
