Hope
[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out it’s roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but it’s leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17: 7-8, Amplified Bible (AMP)
What Is Hope?
The standard definition of Hope is: 1) A feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. 2) Want something to happen or be the case.
Hope, according to the Bible is so much more than an optimistic feeling. It encompasses more than wishful thinking. Biblical hope does not have a “hope for the best, but prepare for the worst” attitude because you fear your expectation may not come to pass.
In Scripture, according to the Hebrew and Greek words translated by the word “hope” and according to the biblical usage, hope is an indication of certainty. “Hope” in Scripture means “a strong and confident expectation.” Bible.Org/Hope
For whatever was thus written in former days was written for our instruction, that by [our steadfast and patient] endurance and the encouragement [drawn] from the Scriptures we might hold fast to and cherish hope. Romans 15: 4 (AMP)
Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. Hebrews 11: 1 (AMP)
Behold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness… Psalm 33: 18 (AMP)
