Your Words Have Great Power And Energy
Choose Your Words Carefully.
We must learn to be mindful and start exercising care when conversing, both with other people and with ourselves. Your words are powerful – especially the words you speak to yourself concerning your dreams, plans and desires.
“You shall have what you say.”
I received a phone call a while ago from a relative who was struggling with deciding her next move. She said she wanted to end her relationship and move out of the place they shared, so she’d prayed for a new job and a new place to stay.
She had several interviews lined up for the following week and she was actively looking for an apartment. Sounds good. Then, a couple seconds later she started listing all the things that could and might be wrong with each of the jobs and why she would probably not to be approved for any apartments she might apply for.
“For by your words, you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:37
How can you get what you want if you don’t expect to get it? If you ask God, The Universe, Spirit or whatever you choose to call the higher power for something, you should expect to get it and let your thoughts, your words and your actions line up with that expectation.
“Nothing stands between man and his highest ideals and every desire of his heart, but doubt and fear. When man can “wish without worrying,” every desire will be instantly fulfilled.” ~ Florence Scovel Shinn: The Game of Life and How to Play It, 1925
Your Words Affirm Your Thoughts. Let Them Be Positive.
In the past I’ve been guilty of doing the same thing. Praying for one thing and saying something else. I didn’t realize the negative words I spoke were canceling what I had prayed for. This kind of behavior is fear-based. We are afraid we won’t get our desired outcome and we start entertaining and speaking the thoughts that reinforce the fear. The simple fact is – if you don’t think you can have a thing, you can’t. Make it a point to start paying attention to what you’re thinking. If you change your thoughts you will change your words. You have to keep reminding yourself – Nothing is impossible with God, and nothing is too good to be true. You can have the desires of your heart. God is in control and His supply is limitless.
